Canadian hockey sticks, wine and cement subject to new Trump tariffs
President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian products including hockey sticks, wine, and cement under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, citing retaliatory restrictions by Canada on U.S. goods. The tariffs, effective Aug. 19, are unrelated to recent wildfires in Ontario, according to a senior administration official. This follows previous tariffs under the IEEPA, which were overturned by the Supreme Court.
