By accessing thenexus.news, using The Nexus mobile app, or subscribing to Nexus Pro or Nexus Pro+, you agree to these terms.
The service
The Nexus monitors a large, continuously evolving set of news outlets and government data feeds, generates summaries and structured intelligence briefings, surfaces the corrections outlets make to their own stories (Corrections), shows what the public record holds on a story (Receipts), tracks trending entities, and offers a free claim-checker against the corpus. It is available on the web and as a mobile app. Nexus Pro and Pro+ are paid subscription tiers that add expanded watchlists, deeper archive access, weekly state digests, on-demand briefings, a daily personalized morning-synthesis email, push notifications, unlimited claim checks, and (Pro+ only) shareable single-article reports.
AI-generated content
The Nexus relies heavily on automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to retrieve, read, summarize, classify, and analyze information from its sources. These systems can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and may produce errors, omissions, or mischaracterizations of the underlying sources. All AI-assisted output, including claim-check responses, briefings, digests, summaries, entity intelligence, and similar features, is provided for general informational purposes only, on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, and is not legal, financial, investigative, intelligence, journalistic, or professional advice. You are responsible for independently verifying any information, including by consulting the original cited sources, before relying on it for any decision. When you check the box accepting these Terms, you acknowledge that you understand the service uses AI and that its output can be wrong. To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Nexus and its operator disclaim all liability for any loss or harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, the service or its output.
Account & subscription
- Free accounts require only an email address. Free tier includes one watchlist, last-30-day search, the daily briefing email, and 5 claim checks per day.
- Nexus Pro is $4.99 per month or $49 per year. Includes 10 watchlists, 90-day archive search, 5 on-demand briefings per month, 3 weekly state digests, push notifications, and unlimited claim checks.
- Nexus Pro+ is $9.99 per month or $99 per year. Includes 25 watchlists, full-archive search back to launch, 20 on-demand briefings per month, 5 weekly state digests, push notifications, unlimited claim checks, and shareable single-article reports.
- How you’re billed depends on where you subscribe. Subscriptions purchased on the web are billed by Stripe; you manage or cancel them from your account page. Subscriptions purchased in the iPhone or iPad app are billed by Apple through your Apple Account and are governed by Apple’s terms; you manage or cancel them in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Pricing may differ slightly on the App Store due to Apple’s pricing tiers.
- Subscriptions auto-renew until canceled. Cancel anytime — from your account page (web/Stripe) or from your Apple subscription settings (App Store purchases). Access remains through the end of the current billing period.
- You may upgrade from Pro to Pro+ at any time: through the Stripe customer portal on the web, or via the App Store in the app. Web upgrades are prorated automatically.
- Refunds for web (Stripe) subscriptions are at our discretion; we will reasonably issue prorated refunds for technical issues that materially prevented use of the service. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policy and must be requested through Apple.
Claim checker
The claim checker compares a pasted social-media claim against our full news-outlet corpus and returns a descriptive summary of what tracked outlets have written about it, with citations to each source. We do not label claims true or false, that’s your judgment. The output is informational, not adjudicative, and is subject to the research-aid disclaimer below.
Anonymous visitors may run one free claim check, after which a free account (email only, no password) is required to continue. Free accounts get 5 claim checks per day; Pro and Pro+ subscribers get unlimited checks. Cached results (someone else recently checked the same claim) do not count against an account’s daily limit.
Embeddable widgets
We offer free iframe-embeddable widgets at /embed/* for use on third-party sites. By embedding a widget you agree to leave the “Powered by The Nexus” attribution link intact. We may modify the widget’s shape, contents, or styling without notice; your embed reflects those changes automatically. We may discontinue specific widgets with reasonable notice.
API access
The Nexus offers a free, structured JSON API for developers, researchers, and AI agents. Access requires a key, which we issue after you verify your email address and tell us how you intend to use it. By using the API you agree that:
- Your key is issued to you, is confidential, and may not be shared or resold. You are responsible for all activity under your key.
- You will attribute results to “The Nexus” with a link to the relevant page or to thenexus.news, as the responses indicate.
- You will stay within the published rate limits and tier gates, and will not attempt to bulk-export the corpus or government-record holdings, circumvent paid-tier gating, or use the free tier to build a competing dataset or service.
- API responses are informational and subject to the research-aid disclaimer below — verify before relying on them.
- We may change, rate-limit, suspend, or revoke API access (including individual keys) at any time, with or without notice, for abuse, excessive load, or violation of these terms.
Mobile app
- The Nexus mobile app is licensed, not sold, to you for use only under these terms. The license is between you and The Nexus; Apple is not a party to it.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app (including product-liability, legal/regulatory, or consumer-protection claims). To the extent there is any applicable warranty, a refund of the purchase price (if any) is Apple’s only warranty obligation.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list, and you will comply with applicable export-control laws and the App Store Terms of Service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically download the service. Use our public RSS feeds, embeddable widgets, or the API (see API access below) instead.
- Resell, redistribute, or republish briefings, digests, claim-check responses, or other generated content as your own.
- Use the service to harass, defame, surveil, or target specific individuals or groups.
- Submit claim-check queries containing slurs, abusive content, or attempts to manipulate The Nexus via prompt injection.
- Reverse-engineer the service or circumvent technical protections.
- Share Nexus Pro or Pro+ login credentials with persons outside your household.
Content & licensing
- Linked articles are owned by their respective publishers. We link under fair-use principles for research and analysis; we do not claim ownership.
- Briefings, digests, and analytical summaries generated by The Nexus are licensed to you for personal and internal professional use.
- China Watch and similar outputs are research aids reflecting current public reporting and any limitations therein.
