Canadian hockey sticks, wine and cement subject to new Trump tariffs
President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on Canadian products including hockey sticks, wine, and cement, citing retaliatory measures against Canadian restrictions on U.S. goods. The tariffs, effective August 19, are authorized under Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, a provision previously unused for this purpose. The move follows prior tariffs under IEEPA, which were ruled illegal by the Supreme Court.
