Genevieve becomes a major Pacific hurricane off Mexico, but no direct threat to land is forecast
Hurricane Genevieve has intensified into a Category 3 major hurricane in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico but is not expected to threaten land. Swells from the storm are causing hazardous surf and rip current conditions along Mexico’s southwestern coast and southern Baja California Peninsula. Hurricane Fausto, a Category 1 storm, is moving westward toward the Hawaiian Islands and is forecast to weaken to a tropical storm.
