Hurricane Genevieve moves through the Pacific off Mexico, but no direct threat to land is forecast

Hurricane Genevieve strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico but is forecast to remain offshore without directly threatening land. Swells from the storm are expected to cause life-threatening surf and rip currents along parts of Mexico’s southwestern coast and southern Baja California Peninsula. Meanwhile, Hurricane Fausto, a Category 2 storm, is moving westward toward the Hawaiian Islands but is expected to weaken to a tropical storm.
