Genevieve has intensified into a Category 3 major hurricane in the Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico, with no direct threat to land but causing dangerous swells along Mexico's southwestern coast and Baja California. Hurricane Fausto, farther northwest, weakened to a Category 1 storm but may still generate significant surf for Hawaii.
