McKinney defeats incumbent Thanedar in Michigan primary
Democratic socialist Donavan McKinney won the U.S. House District 13 primary election in Michigan with approximately 51.9% of the vote, unseating incumbent Rep. Shri Thanedar. The upset victory was backed by progressive groups including Justice Democrats and members of the Congressional Black Caucus, despite Thanedar's substantial financial resources and support from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
