McKinney unseats Thanedar in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District
Donavan McKinney defeated Shri Thanedar in Michigan’s 13th Congressional District primary, securing 51.9% of the vote. Thanedar, who had significant financial resources and backing from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, lost to McKinney, who received support from progressive Congressional Black Caucus members and Bernie Sanders. The district, a Democratic stronghold, will likely send McKinney to Congress.
