Black-owned EVO Kitchen & Co. is set to open in Charlotte's Steele Creek corridor on August 1, offering elevated Southern comfort food with global influences. Co-founded by McMiller and Myra Wilson, the restaurant features Chef Kendrick Hollis's herb-forward, wellness-conscious menu, including dishes like Bayou Braised Oxtail Pasta and Peach Bourbon Glazed Wings, alongside a craft cocktail program and live music events.

A 23-year-old man, Dailyn Young, faces attempted murder charges after a June road rage shooting on Charlotte's I-485, where a passenger was injured. Police tracked a stolen vehicle linked to the incident and arrested Young following a chase, recovering a 9mm handgun and live ammunition in the car.

Residents of Steele Creek are living in fear due to a roundabout that has caused dozens of crashes. A Charlotte city spokesperson stated that a developer built the roundabout at the intersection.

A 7-year-old boy drowned in an unfenced retention pond in Steele Creek, Charlotte, prompting neighbors to demand safety measures. Parents Chauntel Maxwell and Erica Locklear called for fencing and increased supervision to prevent future incidents. Six drownings have occurred in the Charlotte region since April, with four involving children or teenagers.

Johnie Wesley Mason IV, a 53-year-old man, died from injuries sustained in a serious scooter accident in Steele Creek in November. He had been hospitalized for months following the incident.

Capital Electric, owned by France-based Sonepar, opened a 258,000-square-foot distribution center in Charlotte's Steele Creek area on June 11. The facility, located at The Concourse development, currently employs 40 people and plans to hire up to 100 employees in phases as it expands operations.
