- Eastpointe business owner billed $776 for police response after crash
Tyronda Sanford, owner of Eastpointe businesses including the Vanity Room, received a $776.49 bill from the Eastpointe Police Department for emergency response services after a traffic crash in May. The bill stems from a 2010 city ordinance requiring non-residents at fault in crashes to pay for police, fire, or rescue services. Sanford criticized the charge as unjust, while city officials stated the program offsets emergency response costs.

Rajena LaMartique Linson, 25, of Detroit, was charged with assault with intent to murder after allegedly beating and running over a 19-year-old woman in freezing temperatures on January 31, 2022. The attack occurred in a Detroit school parking lot following an encounter at a bar in Eastpointe, and Linson was later arrested after a separate incident involving a deputy being shot at.
- Eastpointe woman killed in Hazel Park pedestrian accident on 8 Mile Road
A 30-year-old Eastpointe woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Hazel Park while crossing 8 Mile Road against a red light. The 27-year-old Center Line driver, who had a green light, was cooperative and no alcohol or drugs were involved.

Remeious Washington, a 48-year-old man, was killed in a crash during a Warren police chase when a fleeing vehicle ran a red light and collided with his car. The incident occurred as he was preparing for a family Juneteenth celebration. Five juveniles were in the fleeing vehicle, with four arrested and one still at large.
