A former Detroit firefighter, Eric Anderson, was charged with multiple crimes, including arson and larceny, after prosecutors accused him of setting fires to several homes and stealing items from a firehouse in Detroit. Rajena LaMartique Linson, 25, of Detroit, was charged with assault with intent to murder after allegedly beating and running over a 19-year-old woman in freezing temperatures on January 31, 2022. The attack occurred in a Detroit school parking lot following an encounter at a bar in Eastpointe, and Linson was later arrested after a separate incident involving a deputy being shot at.

A Detroit mother, Daysiana Lachell Powell, was arraigned on July 13 after her newborn baby was found dead in a dumpster on July 8. She faces one count of concealing the death of an individual and has court dates scheduled for July 21 and July 28.

A 48-year-old man accused of kidnapping a 16-year-old girl while she waited for a school bus in Hamtramck pleaded guilty to kidnapping and multiple firearm-related charges. The incident occurred in April when the suspect, Donald James Joseph Arthur Fields, allegedly forced the teen into his van before being arrested at a Detroit gas station after she signaled for help. Fields will be sentenced on August 20.

A 29-year-old Detroit man, Nicholas Alexander Lee-Nathan, was charged after allegedly killing two pedestrians, Erica Smith and Dawad Helton, in a drunk driving crash near a bar. Prosecutors stated he struck the victims at high speed, attempted to flee, and had a blood alcohol content over three times the legal limit.

Henry Bernard Montgomery, 38, of Detroit was charged with third-degree animal cruelty after allegedly burning and torturing a raccoon and posting a video of the act online. The incident occurred on June 17, 2026, at a residence in Detroit, leading to his arrest on June 20 and subsequent arraignment with a $20,000 bond.
