- Man charged in connection with deadly shooting at Macomb County hotel pleads no contest
Luke James Svacha, 51, pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and felony firearm after a shooting at a Macomb County hotel that killed 24-year-old Jajuan Marls. Svacha barricaded himself at a Center Line residence following the Feb. 1, 2025, incident and was arrested 12 hours later. He faces a minimum 22-year prison sentence under a sentencing agreement.
