The Supreme Court declined to interfere with the High Court's relief granted to former DMK Minister E.V. Velu in a highways scam case. The FIR against Velu, government officials, and a contractor was registered by DVAC on June 24 based on a 2022 complaint by anti-corruption NGO Arappor Iyakkam.

DMK leader E.V. Velu stated he is not hiding and has been receiving treatment for heart ailments at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore since 2016. He planned to undergo a medical check-up there after the election campaign.

Madras High Court has granted an interim stay of the Look Out Circular against E.V. Velu, requiring him to appear for an inquiry on July 15, 2026, after returning from Singapore on July 12, 2026.
