Consumer Reports found that many portable bed rails pose hidden dangers, linked to hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries. Testing revealed four out of ten adult models and one out of six children’s models failed safety standards. The Consumer Product Safety Commission noted most unsafe products are manufactured overseas, primarily in China, and recommended alternatives to bed rails for safety.

Fridges sold at Home Depot and Amazon are being recalled due to reports of fires, including one that resulted in a death. The CPSC has documented 34 fire incidents linked to the refrigerators.

The CPSC recalled over 16,000 EnHomee 9-Drawer Fabric Dressers sold on Walmart.com due to a child tip-over risk. The dressers violated a mandatory federal safety standard and were sold for about $80 between 2023 and 2026.

Target is recalling 200,000 children’s sandals due to a potential choking hazard. The retailer has received 23 reports of pearls falling off the shoes.

Vacuums sold by Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers are being recalled due to a fire risk linked to lithium-ion batteries. The CPSC reported that Rowenta, the manufacturer, has received over 65 global reports of batteries overheating or failing to charge.

The CPSC is recalling 70,000 teething toys sold on Amazon due to choking hazards caused by silicone strings that violate toy safety standards. The silicone strings are smaller and longer than permitted under mandatory toy safety regulations.
