Triathlon coach training for Ironman fights off alligator attack during practice swim

A triathlon coach named Jonathan Bruney was attacked by a 4-to 5-foot alligator during an Ironman practice swim on the Savannah River near North Augusta, S.C. While swimming, Bruney fought free from the animal's grip by targeting its eye. His fellow athlete, Matthew Davis, quickly provided first aid on the spot and applied a tourniquet.
