Triathlon coach training for Ironman fights off alligator attack during practice swim

A triathlon coach named Jonathan Bruney was performing a race rehearsal for Ironman Augusta near North Augusta, South Carolina, when he was attacked by a 4-to 5-foot alligator in the Savannah River. Bruney fought off the attack by targeting the gator's eye, and another athlete, Matthew Davis, treated his resulting deep gash with a tourniquet.
