Charlotte City Council signals support for expanded teen curfew

Charlotte City Council is considering a proposal for a 9 p.m. curfew for individuals under 18, which was supported by the majority of councilmembers present. CMPD Chief Estella Patterson stated that the new rule will provide officers with better ways to respond to unauthorized and unruly mass gatherings. However, other councilmembers expressed concern that the curfew might criminalize minors or negatively affect their records.
