Washington state fires destroy hundreds of structures and force Spokane-area residents to evacuate

Wildfires in eastern Washington state destroyed at least 600 structures and forced 60,000 residents to evacuate in the Spokane area. The fires, which were 0% contained, burned 12 square miles and were part of dozens of wildfires across the Western U.S. Additional fires in Idaho, Oregon, and Utah threatened hundreds of homes and cattle, with dry weather expected to hinder containment efforts.
