Kay Granger, the first Republican woman from Texas to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, died at age 83. She served nearly three decades in Congress, was the first woman mayor of Fort Worth, and chaired the House Appropriations Committee. Granger faced health challenges in her final months in office and did not seek re-election in 2024.
