Wildfires in eastern Washington have destroyed 600 structures and forced the evacuation of 5,000 homes near Spokane. The Old Trails Fire, Fairview Fire, and Meadowview Fire remain uncontained, burning over 8.2 square miles. Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson declared a state of emergency as strong winds and challenging terrain hinder firefighting efforts.
