Wind-driven wildfire prompts evacuations in eastern Washington

A wind-driven wildfire in eastern Washington prompted evacuations of thousands as it spread rapidly across northwest Spokane, burning over 4 square miles and threatening residential areas. The Old Trails Fire, fueled by high temperatures and strong winds, led to power shutoffs, structural losses, and a declared state of emergency by Gov. Bob Ferguson.
