Hungary probes deal with China’s BYD carmaker after ex-foreign minister takes job there

Hungary is investigating a deal with Chinese automaker BYD negotiated by former foreign minister Péter Szijjártó, who resigned from Parliament to join the company. The probe focuses on subsidies and state support Szijjártó facilitated for BYD during his tenure, including a 20-billion-forint government grant for the company's European headquarters and research center in Budapest.
