Top Orbán ally joins Chinese car giant BYD

Péter Szijjártó resigned from parliament to join Chinese electric vehicle company BYD as an executive overseeing external relations and new business lines. Prime Minister Péter Magyar accused him of representing foreign interests and lobbying for Hungarian state subsidies for BYD. Szijjártó, a Fidesz loyalist, previously advocated for closer ties with Beijing and Moscow during his tenure as Hungary’s foreign minister.
