Meta data centre in Alberta to start operating before neighbouring power plant

Meta Platforms Inc. plans to open a $13-billion-plus data centre in Alberta before a neighboring natural gas-fired power plant north of Edmonton becomes operational. The power plant is expected to take four years to start operating, while the data centre is projected to launch in two to three years.
