Meta plans billions for first AI data center in Canada, largest outside the US
Meta will invest over $9.1 billion to build its first AI data center in Sturgeon County, Alberta, Canada. The facility will be powered by a natural gas-fired plant developed by a consortium including Pembina Pipeline Ltd., with operations expected to begin in 2030. The project includes a closed-loop cooling system and $42 million in local infrastructure investments.
