Governor Lawal has commissioned a $200 million lithium mining plant in Zamfara. The project is a joint investment by ZAM Mining Company Ltd, Bima Mines Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co Ltd, and other partners.

Nigerian soldiers killed over 300 members of kidnapping and cattle bandit gangs in Zamfara's Gummi district during a two-day operation, according to Zamfara’s information commissioner Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa.
