A grandpa was scammed out of $3500 after a popup on his computer claimed his system was infected. He provided personal and financial information, purchased gift cards for Sephora and Lowes, and shared the numbers with the scammer. The family froze his bank account, credit, and two gift cards, and filed reports with police, FTC, and FBI.

An O2 call center employee was transferred to a scammer via a number provided by O2, resulting in £2000 being charged to his credit card. The scammer used Zoho Assist to install remote access software on his computer, and the victim is now lodging a formal complaint with O2.
