Senate Majority Leader John Thune declined to endorse a candidate in South Carolina's Senate race but praised Sen. Darline Graham as a strong contender. Darline Graham entered the race following encouragement from President Donald Trump, while Republicans Ralph Norman and Russell Fry also announced their candidacies.

Rep. Ralph Norman announced his candidacy for the South Carolina Senate seat following Sen. Lindsey Graham's death. President Trump endorsed Darline Graham, Lindsey Graham's sister, who is appointed to finish his term. Norman, supported by GOP Senators Mike Lee and Rick Scott, will compete in an August 11 primary against candidates including Mark Lynch and Duke Buckner.

Annie Andrews, who was running against Lindsey Graham in the South Carolina Senate race, called for setting partisanship aside after Graham’s death. She expressed condolences to his family, friends, staff, and others grieving the loss.

Sen. Lindsey Graham is projected to face pediatrician Annie Andrews in the South Carolina Senate race in November. Both candidates won their primaries outright, avoiding a June 23 primary runoff.
