A 22-year-old man named Awab Metwally rescued a struggling swimmer in the Miami River near the Riverwalk after others failed to assist. Metwally, a champion swimmer from Egypt, pushed the man to safety and credited his swimming training for the successful rescue. Paramedics later performed life-saving measures on the rescued individual before transporting him to a hospital.

A man died after falling into a river in Fort Lauderdale despite attempts by a good Samaritan to save him. The incident occurred around 5:07 a.m. along the 200 block of Southwest Second Avenue, and the death is under investigation with authorities classifying it as undetermined.
