Michael Simpson, a 51-year-old South Florida man, faces a felony attempted murder charge after allegedly shutting off a juvenile lobster diver’s oxygen supply underwater. Simpson’s attorney claims innocence and states the state may pursue a different charge, while Simpson was granted $10,000 bail and is expected to be released.

Wilkhari Levale Jones, a 25-year-old man, was sentenced to 13 years in state prison for his role in a 2020 ambush and shooting involving Miami Police Detective Erica Socarras. The sentence was part of a plea deal after a traffic stop led to gunfire targeting an unmarked police vehicle. Two other co-defendants, Antranard Womble and Wilzavier Le’Varick Jones, had previously accepted plea deals.

Kelton Abston, 27, faces attempted felony murder charges and was denied bond, while Mari Carmen Zelaya, 42, faces battery charges and was granted a $5,000 bond. The incident occurred after an argument escalated into a shooting on May 31, leaving two victims with chest wounds.
