- 59-year-old man dies after medical emergency in Mecklenburg jail
A 59-year-old man, Todd Williams, died after being found unresponsive at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center. Emergency responders and medical teams attempted to save him before he was pronounced dead at Atrium Main. The sheriff's office stated his death is under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation and the medical examiner.
- Two charged in fatal east Charlotte shooting
Two individuals, Cornelius Lamar Butler and Lashaundra Jackson, have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of Corey Barnard in east Charlotte. Butler faces first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon charges, while Jackson is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is continuing its investigation and seeking public assistance.
