Abdinasir Abshir pleaded guilty to tampering with a witness during his wire fraud trial, which involved more than $5 million. Abshir was connected to the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, alongside co-defendants Aimee Bock and Salim Said, in a large $250 million case. Prosecutors are requesting 5-7 years in jail for intimidating a federal witness.

Massachusetts' Office of Campaign and Political Finance (OCPF) has introduced a new interpretation of campaign finance rules requiring nonprofits discussing public policy near elections to disclose donors or cease communications. The Fiscal Alliance Foundation discovered this change after being informed by OCPF that identical advertisements about a vocational school project, previously not requiring donor disclosure, would now trigger such requirements ahead of a 2026 revote.

A 31-year-old Lakeville man, Eduard Shelipov, died after being struck by a cable while working on a cell tower in northern Minnesota. The incident occurred on July 15 near Bunker Hill Road in Castle Danger, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

Mustafa Jama, a Rochester man, was sentenced to 14 months in prison and ordered to pay $1.4 million for misappropriating Federal Child Nutrition Program funds. He and his wife used the money to purchase properties in Turkey and Ohio.
