- Beloved Nashville church site reduced to rubble in 2020 tornado could see new life under councilman’s new proposal
Metro Councilman Jordan Huffman proposed redeveloping the site of Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church, destroyed in a March 2020 tornado, into a landscaped memorial with the church’s original bell. The proposal includes a berm with native plants, a memorial, and protections against mining, to be reviewed by the Metro Planning Commission on August 20.
- Baby rescued from homeless camp during Nashville heat wave, safety committee says
A 6-month-old baby was rescued from a homeless camp in Nashville during a heat wave and is now in the custody of the Tennessee Department of Child Services. Councilmember Sheri Weiner found the baby soaking wet and held him for three hours before authorities intervened. The parents are currently in jail.
