- Uganda’s military unveils statue of Netanyahu’s brother who died in 1976 Entebbe hostage rescue
Uganda's military unveiled a statue of Yonatan Netanyahu, an Israeli commando killed during the 1976 Entebbe hostage rescue operation. The monument, located at Entebbe airport, was commissioned by Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Ugandan military chief and son of President Yoweri Museveni, to honor Netanyahu's courage. The operation, led by Israeli forces, saved 103 of 106 hostages taken by Palestinian and German hijackers.

On July 4, 1976, Israeli commandos conducted a rescue mission in Uganda to free hostages, including the author's parents, from a hijacked Air France flight. The operation, which resulted in the rescue of 102 hostages and the deaths of three others, underscored the author's belief in American freedom and led to a career in U.S. intelligence.
