A 42-year-old corrections deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was arrested by Hialeah police and faces multiple felony charges of child molestation. The accused, Manuel De Jesus Chaveco Delgado, is charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious molestation and one count of showing obscene material to a minor after allegedly touching a 13- to 15-year-old girl inappropriately and displaying explicit content on his phone.

A 21-year-old man, Leonel Alejandro Laferte, turned himself in to Hialeah police after being accused of killing a cyclist in a hit-and-run crash. The victim, 37-year-old Kenneth William Wimbley, died from injuries sustained when Laferte's 2022 Kia Stinger struck him while his driver's license was suspended. Laferte faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and driving with a suspended license.

A 39-year-old woman named Geydis Cabrera is accused of forging 90 checks to steal $46,455 from the owner of Hialeah jewelry store Casa Joyero Miami. Police report she deposited 57 forged checks into her bank account, leading to her arrest and charges including third-degree grand theft, uttering a forged instrument, and organized fraud.
