A plan to build a Pete’s Fresh Market in Bronzeville, delayed for over six years, is set to be presented to Chicago’s Plan Commission on August 20. Developer Zeb McLaurin aims to secure land approval for the grocery store and retail spaces on the former Stateway Gardens site, with construction potentially starting in 2027 after resolving ownership disputes involving the city, Chicago Housing Authority, and Chicago Public Schools.

Wrigleyville neighbors are opposing the Chicago Cubs' plan to expand the Camry Lot parking area by incorporating the former House of the Good Shepherd property, citing environmental, traffic, and privacy concerns. Over 1,600 signatures have been collected for a petition demanding compliance with city regulations, particularly after the removal of 29 mature trees from the site. The Cubs argue the expansion will improve accessibility and add more trees than currently exist.

A Cook County judge dismissed a lawsuit by Edgewater residents and businesses challenging Chicago's Broadway zoning changes, ruling they failed to prove constitutional violations or prejudice. The zoning plan allows taller buildings and new commercial uses, and the city argued it met public notification requirements despite complaints about inadequate notice and public engagement processes.

The first phase of the $580 million Woodlawn Central development, led by the Apostolic Church of God and developer J. Byron Brazier, received approval from Chicago’s Plan Commission. The project includes a 14-story building with housing, a hotel, retail, and commercial space, pending final City Council approval, with construction planned to begin in 2027 and finish by late 2028.

City Council approved housing developments in Avondale and McKinley Park, including 105 units with affordable options, following community feedback that reduced density. Additional projects in Streeterville and other areas also advanced.
