- Legal battle over water use in California county ends in settlement
Siskiyou County and Sheriff Jeremiah LaRue settled a lawsuit with over 1,000 residents, many Asian American, in Shasta Vista over alleged discriminatory water use enforcement linked to cannabis grow restrictions. The agreement includes protections against racially discriminatory enforcement, restrictions on water transfer enforcement, and funding for a public water system, with $650,000 in attorney fees paid by the county.

George R Ariyoshi, Hawaii's former governor and the first Asian American governor in U.S. history, has died at age 100. He led Hawaii from 1973 to 1986 during the Democratic Party's rise to power in the state.
