Area A

Solomon's Pools, ancient water reservoirs near Efrat and Bethlehem, are at the center of a dispute between Israeli officials and the Palestinian Authority over jurisdiction and preservation. The site, under Palestinian civil and security control in Area A since the 1993 Oslo Accords, is accused of neglect and sewage contamination by Efrat's mayor and municipality, who argue it should remain under Israeli control to protect its historical and touristic value.

Israeli civilians are increasingly entering forbidden West Bank cities despite warnings, driven by cheaper prices and a perceived sense of security. Many of these trips result in the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) extracting them from Palestinian Authority (PA) custody.

Twenty-three deaf and mute Israelis were detained by Palestinian security forces in Nablus, an Area A city restricted to Israelis, after being invited for lunch. They were later transferred to Israeli forces following their extraction.
