Surprise Solano County vote kills California Forever’s shipyard bill for this year
Solano County Supervisors rejected a California Forever plan backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom intended to construct a shipbuilding facility. The surprise 3-2 vote effectively killed the proposed “Solano Maritime and Manufacturing Act” for this year. Proponents argued the project could create at least 10,000 jobs, but opponents cited concerns over environmental protection and lack of inclusion for labor and tribal groups.
