Man accused of threatening to ‘shoot up’ Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools released from jail days before school starts

A 33-year-old man named Drew Owens, who was charged with communicating a threat of mass violence at five Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, has been released from jail on a $60,000 bond. Owens allegedly sent threats to kill or shoot up students through letters and emails targeting multiple educational properties in the area.
