Kettering University student sues Genesee County, alleges they withheld records on Flock cameras

Joshua Tewolde, a student at Kettering University, filed a lawsuit against Genesee County alleging the county illegally withheld records regarding Flock automated license plate reader cameras. The FOIA request sought information on contracts with Flock Group, system logs, and local policies governing surveillance technology. Tewolde's lawyers argue that the county incorrectly claimed ownership of data collected by the camera system, noting that the contract indicates Genesee County retains legal ownership of all captured footage.
