Tourist dies in Death Valley after getting stranded on remote road in 116 degree-heat

A French tourist named Pierre Michel Formosa died in Death Valley National Park after his vehicle became trapped in mud on a remote backcountry road. Unable to continue walking across the salt flats due to the 116-degree heat, he was found by search and rescue teams later that afternoon but had already been pronounced dead at the scene.
