‘I just didn’t want to give up on him’: Detroit dispatcher honored for help finding unconscious man
Latonya Estes, a Detroit 911 dispatcher, was honored for her quick thinking after helping guide firefighters to find an unconscious man near Puritan Avenue and Schaefer Highway. She successfully guided crews by staying on the line and using the sound of a fire engine's siren when the man could not give a precise location. The man was eventually located by firefighters and EMS and has since been released from the hospital.
