States, cities try to keep ICE out of schools
More than a dozen states have enacted laws aiming to prevent ICE from operating in schools, but an incident in Baltimore illustrated the limits of state authority. On June 11, ICE agents arrested Jesus Acevedo Sanchez and detained his wife outside Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School. Subsequently, a federal judge ordered the release of Jesus Acevedo Sanchez, ruling that the agents lacked probable cause for the arrest.
