Colombia searches for its missing after a powerful earthquake kills at least 111

A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday, killing at least 111 people and leaving many trapped under debris; around 1,600 buildings were reported damaged. President Abelardo de la Espriella mobilized the entire military and police apparatus to respond to the crisis, particularly in the vulnerable Choco region. Furthermore, the U.S. State Department announced it would provide $15.5 million for emergency aid.
