Miami-Dade taking steps to sustainably deal with solid waste issue

Miami-Dade County unveiled a Zero Waste master plan to tackle its solid waste crisis, which generates 5 million tons of garbage annually and faces limited landfill space. The comprehensive plan includes over 30 strategies designed to more than double the recycling rate from 36% to 77% over the next 13 years. Efforts emphasize expanding composting and turning yard waste into biochar, while making the travel and tourism industry an essential partner.
