‘Once in a lifetime’: 14-foot hammerhead shark found dead on NC beach

A 14-foot scalloped hammerhead shark was found dead on a North Carolina beach after washing ashore twice. Emergency teams retrieved the animal, which showed signs of fishing interaction but had an unknown cause of death. The North Carolina Shark Conservancy collected samples for conservation research.
