Avila Chevalier plans to join Congressional Black Caucus

Darializa Avila Chevalier, a democratic socialist who won a primary against Rep. Adriano Espaillat, plans to join both the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. She would be the second Afro-Latino lawmaker to sit in both caucuses simultaneously, and has discussed joining with members including Hakeem Jeffries and Yvette Clarke. The caucuses have indicated eligibility and established processes for her membership.
