Mamdani Endorses DSA-Backed Avila Chevalier Against Incumbent Espaillat for Congress

Mayor Zohran Mamdani endorsed political newcomer Darializa Avila Chevalier, a Democratic Socialists of America member, in her primary challenge against incumbent Rep. Adriano Espaillat for New York’s 13th Congressional district. Espaillat, who represents the district for nearly a decade, highlighted support from labor unions and prominent Democrats, while Avila Chevalier has raised more funds than him in the first quarter of the year.
