BSO faces trial over 2018 Parkland school shooting response
The Broward Sheriff’s Office is facing a trial regarding its response to the 2018 Parkland school shooting after an appeals court ruled it is not immune from lawsuits. The lawsuit, filed by survivors and families of the victims, alleges negligence, with former school resource deputy Scot Peterson among the defendants. Peterson was acquitted of child neglect charges in 2023, and the trial is set to begin early next year.
